On the associated cycles of discrete series representations (Q1271902)

Let \((G,K)\) be a classical symmetric pair defined by the involution \(\theta\) of the group \(G\), and let \((\mathfrak g,\mathfrak k)\) denote the corresponding Lie algebras. The author discusses several topics related to the geometry of the set of nilpotent forms in \({\mathfrak k}^\perp\). Given a \(\theta\)-stable Borel subalgebra \(\mathfrak b\), he determines a dense \(K\)-orbit in \(K.({\mathfrak b}^\perp\cap{\mathfrak k}^\perp)\). In the case of \(U(p,q)\) (type AIII) or \(O(p,q)\) (type BDI), this information is then used to compute the harmonic polynomial determined by the associated cycle of a large discrete series representation.
