For congruence modular varieties of algebras, the author constructs an analog of the Magnus representation from the theory of solvable groups. In particular, Theorem 4.6 of the article under review is similar to the Magnus representation theorem [cf. \textit{N. Gupta}, Free group rings (Contemp. Math. 66) (1987; Zbl 0641.20022)].
