The authors extend the results obtained by \textit{Y. Cao} and \textit{Y. Xu} [J. Integral Equations Appl. 6, No. 3, 303-334 (1994; Zbl 0819.65139)] concerning the Galerkin method for weakly singular Fredholm integral equations that preserves the singularity of the solution. This paper establishes the singularity preserving Galerkin method for Hammerstein equations with logarithmic kernel. The iterated singularity preserving Galerkin method is discussed as well.
