Given a map \(f:X \to U(N)\), resp. an idempotent \(e\in M_N(C(X))\), \(X\) a compact space, the author constructs explicit cocycles in the Alexander-Spanier cohomological complex that represent the Chern character of \([f]\in K^{-1}(X)\), resp. \([e]\in K^0(X)\) in Alexander-Spanier cohomology.
