This survey paper deals with dynamical systems that are switched by a finite automaton. The automaton is modelled by a special type of Petri network called PTPN (Programmable timed Petri net). Modelling and control within this framework are considered. Some interesting applications are given. There are very few mathematical results, no proofs and a long reference list. This publication is stimulating for starting new research.
