The author gives a condition employing the second-derivative operator introduced by \textit{L. Qi} [SIAM J. Numer. Anal. 19, 851-857 (1982; Zbl 0506.65020)] which guarantees not only existence (as proved by Qi) but also uniqueness of a zero of a nonlinear function \(f\) in a rectangular box \([x]\subset R^n\).
