This book is designed for a one-semester introductory course in complex analysis. It contains all the standard material from complex numbers to the Riemann mapping theorem. It is written from the geometric viewpoint and contains several pictures, examples, exercises, and a bibliography. For the proof of Cauchy's theorem, the author follows the approach which is due to A. F. Beardon and appears also in the textbook of L. V. Ahlfors. He also includes an alternative approach (based on Runge's approximation theorem), adapted from the book of S. Saks and A. Zygmund. The exposition is clear, rigorous, and friendly. The spirit of the book is similar to that of the books of Ahlfors and Saks-Zygmund. This book is, however, much shorter and introductory. It contains only short introductions to harmonic functions, normal families, and analytic continuation-Riemann surfaces.
