The author has found among the unpublished and fragmented manuscripts of János Bolyai (1802-1860) original results in number theory. He describes investigations into pseudoprimes (nonprime \(p\) with \(a^{p-1} \equiv 1\pmod p\) for some coprime a), Gaussian integers and proofs of the two-square theorem, and Fermat numbers \(2^{2^n}+1\).
