An algorithm is described, that determines the terms of a Lucas sequence of the first kind which are of the form \(k\)-times a square. Some applications of this algorithm are discussed. The paper is based on previous ones [e.g., \textit{P. Ribenboim}, Port. Math. 46, 159-175 (1989; Zbl 0687.10005) and J. Sichuan Univ., Nat. Sci. Ed. 26, Spec. Issue, 196-200 (1989; Zbl 0709.11014)].
