From the mathematical standpoint the paper deals with weakly nonlinear partial differential equations. Scaling gives the possibility to find and estimate key parameters of the system under consideration. A perturbative analysis of deep bioconvection for long vertical wavelength patterns in deep suspensions is considered in order to characterize the bifurcation to instability, and thus determine if linear analysis can be used to predict the initial pattern wavelengths. Numerical integration is used for analysing the horizontal steady state solutions for long vertical wavelengths. Generalization for the three-dimensional case is proposed.
