The author shows that properties of nonlinear time structures (used in many application areas) have not been studied enough and deserve a thorough study. In particular, she presents axioms which force the existence of a branching point in a branching area, for various classes of structures. Since the Dedekind continuity axiom is not appropriate for nonlinear structures, she suggests and motivates some stronger versions. The theorems in the paper show mainly the interdependencies between the presented axioms.
