On the Clifford pre-algebra associated with \(R^n\) (Q1286433)

In a polemic introduction the author compares geometrically and algebraically motivated constructions of Clifford algebras. Posing himself in the camp of geometers, the work develops Clifford algebras from scratch in an own notation but along the lines presented by \textit{E. Artin} [Geometric algebra (1957; Zbl 0077.02101. Reprint 1988; Zbl 0642.51001)], \textit{M. Riesz} [Clifford numbers and spinors, (1958; Zbl 0103.38403. Reprint 1993; Zbl 0823.15028)] and mostly \textit{C. Chevalley} [The algebraic theory of spinors (1954; Zbl 0057.25901) and The construction and study of certain important algebras (1955; Zbl 0065.01901) (both contained also in Collected Works Vol. 2 (1997; Zbl 0899.01032)]. The aim of the paper is to provide a mathematically rigorous and algebraically satisfying construction of Clifford algebras by arguing in a purely geometrical fashion.
