Numerical procedures are developed to solve the problem of determining the scattered electromagnetic fields induced inside the earth by a plane monochromatic electromagnetic wave arriving normally to the earth's surface. The earth can be modelled as a horizontally layered medium containing arbitrarily shaped inhomogenities associated with the conductivity anomalies. The method includes global mixed and global hybridized mixed finite element procedure and an interative hybridized mixed finite element decomposition technique. Convergence is determined.
