The paper describes the angular motion of flexible spacecraft in the form of the Likins dynamic model. Model reduction of the structure is described. It is based on the comparison of the excitability degrees of elastic modes and isolating the kernel of a given model including the equations of rigid motion and those ones of elastic modes. Techniques for studying the dynamics of interaction between the control system and flexibility of this structure are given. They are based on the method of a phase biplane and fuzzy phase biplane. A new approach to control of the orientation of a large space structure is proposed. It is based on robustness by introducing an adjustable model of the structure, an extended observer, an on-board expert system, and subsystems of amplitude and phase stabilization of elastic modes into the control loop.
