According to the theory of the remainder effects of difference schemes the numerical dissipation and dispersion of schemes are analyzed in this paper. Some typical limiters are distinguished, their advantage and disadvantage as well as how to modify them are pointed out. After this, a new class of limiter is proposed. They have high resolution in sharp discontinuities. The effectiveness of this approach is illustrated on a numerical example.
