In this interesting article the authors give new characterizations of Asplund spaces by using \(\varepsilon\)-normals and \(\varepsilon\)-subdifferentials as well as their sequential limits. Then they investigate several smooth variational principles in Asplund spaces. So, one provides necessary and sufficient conditions for the validity of such variational principles.
