Discrete-time relaxation methods based on direct quadrature methods for the numerical solution of second kind Volterra systems are discussed. Sufficient conditions are given for the convergence of the iteration process which does not involve the spectral radius of the iteration matrix. It is directly expressed in terms of the characteristics of the chosen splitting and of the original kernel. Numerical examples are given to illustrate usefulness of the method.
