The Johnson-Sinclair theorem on automatic continuity of derivations on semisimple Banach algebras is extended to the Banach pair framework. The essential step consists again in showing the invariance of ``almost all'' primitive ideals under derivations. Moreover, the authors obtain a Kleinecke-type theorem for continuous derivations on Banach pairs.
