Lemma 1 in the author's paper [ibid. A 64, 170-173 (1988; Zbl 0664.12006)] could not be confirmed to hold as stated there. Now the author provides a new Lemma \(1'\) giving \(R_{p^a} (C_E)\geq \rho_{p^a} (E/K)-2\) that can be proved using arguments of \textit{M. Madan} [Arch. Math. 19, 121-124 (1968; Zbl 0245.12012)] and can be used instead of Lemma 1 throughout the original paper.
