This paper is concerned with the numerical treatment of retarded differential equations. Embedded high order pairs of explicit Runge-Kutta-Nyström methods are used coupled with Hermite interpolants. New continuous extensions of high phase-lag order are constructed and analyzed. Numerical experiments and comparisons over various test problems are given.
