The author investigates the evolution of the brain by using the theory of Gaussian Adaptation (GA), that is the entropy of a population of signal patterns is maximized keeping the mean fitness of the population \(P\) at some suitable level. In the end, the author concluded that the GA - algorithm is a good second order approximation of the Darwinian evolution of natural systems and is also consistent with the Hebbian rule of associative leaning.
