The authors introduce a new class of linearly implicit splitting methods for the numerical solution of systems of ordinary differential equations arising from the space discretization of parabolic partial differential equations. The resulting Jacobian matrices are approximated by simpler matrices which can be directly inverted. The methods are consistent of order two.
