A variable structure control strategy is proposed for a model reference adaptive control of linear time-invariant systems with uncertain additive and multiplicative dynamics, and disturbances in the input and output channels. By introducing auxiliary signals, normalized signals with memory and an appropriate choice of the control parameters, the proposed scheme enables the tracking error to reach zero in finite time. Moreover, the controller can overcome the unmodeled dynamics and the disturbances of the system. The global stability of the closed-loop system is guaranteed. Simulation results are also presented.
