A novel algorithm for predictive damping of the resonant/natural frequencies of engineering structures is proposed. The multi-step ahead prediction of the response to the external excitation is realized by the proposed dominant internal model. The robustness analysis indicates the satisfactory performance even if the designated frequencies used in the dominant internal model are not exactly identical to the natural frequencies of the controlled engineering structure. Numerical simulations illustrate the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.
