The author proves a recursive formula for the Jones polynomial for \(n\)-pretzel knots -- recursive in \(n\) -- using Kauffman's skein relation. A special case of Jones' formula for torus knots \((2,s)\) is derived, and as an application the amphicheirality of certain classical pretzel knots is determined; they are, by the way 2-bridge knots [\textit{C. Bankwitz} and \textit{H. G. Schumann}, Abh. Math. Semin. Hamb. Univ. 10, 263-284 (1934; Zbl 0009.23003)].
