The authors investigate what Hausdorff spaces can be embedded in first countable spaces with properties similar to that of being H-closed, particularly in the case where the space in question is assumed to be weakly realcompact. It is also shown that no upper bound exists either for the cardinality of a first countable almost Lindelöf space or for the cardinality of an H-set contained in a first countable Hausdorff space.
