A bicubic planar map is a planar imbedding of a 3-regular bipartite graph. The author honors the memory of \textit{François Jaeger} by giving a slight extension of the theory of the latter's paper [``A new invariant of plane bipartite cubic graphs,'' Discrete Math. 101, No. 1-3, 149-164 (1992; Zbl 0767.05043)].
