Let \(S\) be a simple finite dimensional algebra over an algebraically closed field. It is shown that \(S\) cannot be the vector space sum of two proper simple subalgebras. If \(S\) is not simple but is the sum of two simple subalgebras, then the detailed structure of \(S\) is given.
