The author proves the conjecture of G. Chartrand, H. Gavlas, and D. W. VanderJagt that the total relative displacement in a permutation on \(\{1,2, \dots, N\}\) has a minimum positive value of \(2N-4\). He also extends the theory of total relative displacements.
