It is shown that in dimension two or more a sequence of long range contact processes suitably rescaled in space and time converges to a super-Brownian motion with drift and that this result leads to improved versions of certain results of \textit{M. Bramson, R. Durrett} and \textit{C. Swindle} [Ann. Pobab. 17, No.~2, 444-481 (1989; Zbl 0682.60090)].
