The concept of multidimensional data visualization using parallel coordinates is discussed. In such plots the coordinate axes are parallel and vectors are represented by lineplots as if they were time series. The point - line duality between 2-D parallel and Euclidean coordinates is considered. This duality can be extended to second order curves, e.g., if a point-set in Euclidean coordinates forms an ellipse then the envelope of the corresponding line-set in parallel coordinates is a hyperbola. Unfortunately the patterns in the multidimensional case are not so clear and depend strongly on the order of indexing. Patterns of hyperplanes and spheres in multidimensional parallel coordinates are discussed.
