Applications of interactive linked statistical graphics to quality control are described. In the first example data on manufacturing of integrated circuits (IC) are investigated. In the second, the analysis of optical fibers (OF) manufacturing is considered. The problem is to visualize the statistical information of manufactured objects characteristics (failure types for IC, ovality, core diameter, reflective index for OF) together with spatial information (at what place in the factory and what time moment was the object produced) and with information aggregated by some subsamples (objects produced by one machine or in one lot). The author considers linked graphical tools for interactive monitoring of such data. He claims that the interactive tools of S-based systems should be improved for such purposes and ``LispStat and XploRe seem to provide a better graphical environment for developing interactive tools like these''.
