In an earlier paper [\textit{G. E. Welters}, Comment. Math. Univ. St. Pauli 46, No. 1, 33-56 (1997; Zbl 0893.11021)] we considered a certain geometrical description of Selmer groups of elliptic curves over global fields of positive characteristic. In the present paper we discuss the problem of a generalization of this to abelian varieties of higher dimension.
