A new method is proposed for FDI in nonlinear dynamic systems modelled by polynomial DAEs. Using Ritt's algorithm, an input-output representation of the monitored system is obtained by eliminating unknown variables. A local approach to change detection is then applied to the input-output representation for FDI residual generation and evaluation. Some simulation results are given.
