Some methods are considered for the linguistic modeling of vague functional relationships, where the linguistic model is assumed to be given as a set of rules. Two approaches are proposed for deriving a fuzzy-valued function from such models. The first one is based on a fuzzy logical evaluation of a set of rules, the second one uses a very different inference process.
