What hath Gödel wrought? (Q1299772)

The author considers various of Gödel's achievements as received among different communities. His contributions to (meta-) logic was immense. His various views on the foundations of mathematics have come through more fitfully, especially because of his failure to publish. His proposals for relativity theory have been mostly marginal, partly due to mistaken criticisms. His incompletability theorem has visited the chattering classes, sometimes with competent outcomes.
