The author muses on the theme of meaning in connection with versions of rationality which he attributes to Kurt Gödel. He also brings in the claim of Hilary Putnam that proofs in mathematics are epistemological rather than a mathematical one. Both aspects are applied to an appraisal of computability in the sense of Alan Turing.
