A modification of the block Arnoldi method is proposed to improve it for large scale matrix eigenproblems by using new approximate eigenvectors. These approximations are combinations of the Ritz vectors and the wasted \((m+1)\)-step method. A modified \(m\)-step iterative block Arnoldi algorithm is presented. As examples a convective diffusion differential equation and the Tolosa matrix from aerodynamics are treated.
