The paper deals with the complementary and equivalence relationship between convex fuzzy systems with symmetric restrictions and wavelets, both regarded from the approximation of functions point of view. After a review of basic principles with several examples, it is shown that the concept of multi-scale fuzzy systems ensures a close relationship between the two apparently unrelated subjects -- a fact that can stimulate further research.
