A new technique for the formulation of numerical schemes for the solution of hyperbolic equations is developed. It begins with algebraic equations having some undefined parameters. The difference equation is determined by means of Taylor-series expansion. After defining the parameters in the partial difference equation, the scheme for the considered equation can be obtained. A numerical example of the viscous Burgers equation is presented which shows the validity of the scheme.
