The author presents curves of genus 2,3,4 over \(\mathbb{Q}(t)\) with the property that they possess no global point over \(\mathbb{Q}(t)\), although their Jacobian varieties split as products of elliptic curves each of positive \(\mathbb{Q}(t)\)-rank.
