The paper is a recounting of some history of mathematical behaviorial sciences of the last 50 years. This article focusses on the interaction between the United States and Eastern Europe in this area, especially in the developing of the use of functional equations to mathematical psychology. It concerns the individual choice behavior, invariance principle, commutative learning operators, measuring utility, joint receipt of gamble and so on. This article consists of some of the author's reflection on the aspects of János Aczel's role. It is dedicated to János Aczel on the occasion of his 75th birthday.
