There is sketched an idea to obtain the scattering amplitude from the scattering cross section in case of a nonrelativistic one-particle Schrödinger operator. For that an auxiliary potential is introduced for which the scattering amplitude is known. The error between the amplitudes is estimated. The phase of the unknown amplitude can be determined. The potentials involved are not assumed to be rotationally invariant.
