The boundary value problem of linear elasticity is studied for an infinite isotropic solid containing a flat external circular crack subjected to surface tractions. The limiting values of the stress and displacement components on the crack plane together with the boundary conditions lead to the integral equations of the Abel type. Four different kinds of traction boundary conditions include a uniform mode-I stretching, concentrated normal ring load, variable shear load and concentrated shear ring load. The analytical and numerical results for the displacement components on the crack surface are presented.
