The authors obtain a lower estimate on the dyadic BMO norm of the restriction of a function \(f\) to a measurable set \(E\) of positive measure when \(f\) is a lacunary Walsh series. They show that this estimate extends the Burkholder-Stein inequality from Rademacher series to lacunary Walsh series.
