    The authors apply the boundary element method to evaluate the electromagnetic coupling between dielectric waveguides and resonators; these structures are basic components for various active and passive circuit devices in microwave and optimal telecommunication systems. A numerical solution as a function of electromagnetic and geometrical quantities is obtained for the scattering parameters of a filtering device, consisting of a ``nonradiative-dielectric'' waveguide and a ``pillbox'' resonator.
