Considering fuzzy topology on fuzzy sets as given by \textit{M. K. Chakraborty} and the reviewer [ibid. 45, No. 1, 103-108 (1992; Zbl 0754.54004)] the present authors introduce several basic concepts and examine the validity of related standard results in this new setting. In so doing, they sharply pinpoint by a good number of counterexamples that in the present context some well-known results simply do not go through.
