The evolution of a plastic zone near a hole (Q1315599)

The title problem is considered assuming that a plastic zone is adjacent to the hole and an elastic domain is at farther distances. One assumes that the stress field in the plastic domain is known in advance. The problem considered is the matching of the plastic stress field with the elastic stress field, subjected to the condition of continuity of stresses on the required matching contour. The load at infinity is assumed to vary while the load on the contour is constant. Examples are given; the solution is obtained by small parameter method. The shape of the plastic zone is determined.
