We discuss delta-matrix factorization as a means of efficiency enhancement for propagation through solid layers, particularly when boundary values at a fluid-solid interface are needed. The basic idea is to write the delta-matrix propagator as a product of sparse matrices which can be applied in sequence to the vector being propagated. We propose two kinds of factorizations, the second being an extension of the first.
