The authors consider the estimation of the global discretization error for a boundary value problem for a system of second-order differential equations solved by simple shooting using a method for second order equations. Expressions are derived for this error for the linear and nonlinear systems. A numerical example is provided to show that the estimates are better than those obtained when the problem is solved as the equivalent first order system.
